SALTMERE

You came to the frontier coast to make your name. Your first quest killed everyone but you, and you don't remember why you lived. The war is coming; the last ships leave at season's end. One season — for passage home, the truth, or a reason to stay.

About this project

Saltmere is a dating-sim RPG played as a full-screen ASCII terminal, grown out of the earlier one-evening Hearthside dating sim — the cast, dialogue engine, and glyph-art pipeline carry forward. You arrive at the last port on the frontier coast with one season of 24 days, four slots to a day, and a town to learn: some doors only exist once someone tells you they do. Training raises your stats and doubles as time spent with the person teaching you; contracts off the guild board pay in copper; combat is turn-based with a party of companions who fight by their own legible habits, and every number is shown — the numbers are the vibe. Losing costs time, never the run. The art keeps two ASCII schools: scenes and maps in the Dwarf Fortress glyph tradition, portraits drawn as line art in strokes. No image assets — the images were generated by Claude in ASCII format. Progress saves locally in the browser.
